  • Solara - 2nd half life better. - 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

Brought this special order 5-speed new. It was a good car for the first 5 years. Excellent wear and tear, great mileage (32 mpg on the highway), solid build, and sporty but smooth ride. However, an irritating noise in the suspension was a little irritating. After a recall of 4 door models for a suspension issue, finally Toyota investigated my complaint. They found I had the same issue, fixed it for free, now it is even better.

Best car (of about 15) that Ive ever owned. Only problems, drivers window mechanism, transmission solenoid, and struts - all replaced after 60k miles. Havent needed to replace orginal brakes yet with 88k miles on vehicle. (20k miles cross country driving included.)

  • The best! - 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

Ive had this car for over a year now and already put 18000 miles on it. It is definitely the best car Ive ever owned. Previous owner had installed TRD suspension kit so the car is lower then normal you have a better control. In the past year I had to replace generator, thermostat, brakes, clutch, 2 wheel barrels - not a big deal.

  • Solara SLE - 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

Bought the car a few months ago. Love it! Its Quick, tight, stylish, and smooth as silk. The previous owner put a trd sway bar and 215/55/16 toyo tires on the factory rims. It handles like a dream! The mirrors should fold though, and the sound is not as crisp as my maxima BOSE was.

What a wonderful car! I bought a 99 SLE with 60K and in 2 years i have had no problems, it now has 140K and the only thing i have done is change the oil every 3k and the brakes once. I didnt even bother with the timing belt. No problems!!! The check engine light is on and its because of the back oxygen sensor heater, there are like 6 banks and one is bad, but the thing is i probably get better gas mileage because of it. Any how its a wonderful car! Toyota ROCKS!

  • Reliable, fun, and hassle free - 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

I bought my 1999 Solara in April of 2003 and havent had any major problems with it. Ive seen a lot of different reviews on here and some are accurate whereas others I cant understand. The interior is pretty straight forward, dont expect some crazy/flashy foreign interior. The ride is very smooth and it has decent power, but nothing huge compared to other coupes. I have had issues with the struts, but Im from Michigan. We have the worst roads in the entire country! Fuel economy is average, not as good as I expected from a Toyota, but overall Ive been VERY happy with my purchase. I have yet to fix a single thing on the car and Im approaching 76,000 miles on it.

  • Nice... - 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

This is my second car (previously owned an integra) and i love it. Its not only nicer but faster than the integra i previously owned. Im currently in the process of adding performance parts to it. I have nothing to regret about buying this car.

  • Best Car Ever Built - 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

My Toyota Solara just hit 220,000 miles and still has the ORIGINAL alternator, motor, transmission, radiator, hoses, A/C compressor, and much much more. All the car ever needs is gas and oil to run for an infinite amount of miles. There is no rust at all and the interior still looks as if it is brand new. I recently had the car in the transmission shop because the rubber seal had cracked from age, he was absolutely astounded that most of the parts are original, especially the transmission which he claims if the oldest highest mileage one he has seen in his career. He said the car, if taken care of, will EASILY see 350,000. I will never own a better car in my life, truly on a level of its own

  • Great Car Fun to Drive - 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

Bought the SE V6 5-speed manual brand new in Dec 98, shipped from the factory, arriving in Jan 99. Still enjoy driving it 11 years later. Regular maintenance is all that has been needed - the total cost of ownership cannot be beat. It is a sporty car that has an actual usable backseat and large trunk. At 153,000 miles, Im sure it has many more miles left.
